HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) is the basic markup language used to define the structure and content of web pages. It forms the technical basis of almost every website on the Internet.
Basic structure of an HTML page
An HTML page consists of a header (head) and a main content (body). The header area contains meta information such as the page title and character coding, while the body includes the visible content of the page.
Tags as building blocks
HTML consists of so-called tags that define the structure and format of the content. The basic elements shall include: <h1> for headings, <p> for paragraphs and <a> for the left.
HTML and responsive design
In conjunction with CSS (Cascading Style Sheets), HTML enables the creation of responsive layouts that adapt to different screen sizes – from smartphones to tablets to desktop devices.
