Your campaign link in a few steps

Enter the destination and campaign details, create a link and download it as a QR code if needed.

Campaign details — fields marked * are required

* Required field

The full address of your destination page. https:// is added if the protocol is missing. The page is not fetched here.

utm_source: Where will you share the link?

utm_medium: What type of channel are you using?

utm_campaign: A unique name for your campaign. Each parameter can contain up to 200 characters.

Optional parameters: Content and Term

utm_content: Distinguish ads, link positions or print designs.

utm_term: Optional paid search keyword.

Use consistent names, preferably lowercase. Letter case is preserved. Do not enter personal data in the URL or campaign names.

Privacy: This tool creates the link and QR code entirely in your browser. It does not store or transmit your inputs. Opening the link or scanning the QR code later visits the destination with the UTM parameters; that website's privacy policy applies.

What is a UTM link, and why use one?

A UTM link is a web address with extra campaign parameters. They identify the source, medium and campaign behind a visit. The destination stays the same; the URL adds information for your reporting. Google explains the terms and parameters in its campaign URL guidance.

For example, you promote the same offer in a newsletter and on a flyer. Two differently tagged links let you compare which route produced recorded visits. Without tags, attributing a visit to a specific campaign is often harder.

What do Source, Medium and Campaign mean?

ParameterMeaningExample
utm_sourceLink sourcenewsletter
utm_mediumMarketing channel typeemail
utm_campaignCampaign nameautumn_offer_2026
utm_contentOptional link or design varianttop_button
utm_termOptional paid search keywordseo_consulting

Source, Medium and Campaign are required in this generator. Add Content and Term only when needed. Keep capitalisation consistent: newsletter and Newsletter can appear separately in reports. Short, lowercase names are easier for teams to maintain.

How to create your tracking link

  1. Enter the destination: use the address of the offer you actually want to link to.
  2. Name the campaign: enter a source, medium and recognisable campaign name. Use Content to distinguish designs or link positions.
  3. Create the link: the generator combines parameters and encodes special characters. Existing values for the five supported UTM fields are replaced; empty optional fields remove old Content or Term values. Other parameters and anchors are preserved.
  4. Use and test: copy the link into your campaign or download the QR code. Check the destination and your reporting before sending.

Examples for newsletters, social media and QR campaigns

These examples represent one campaign distributed in three ways. For two flyer designs, you could also use utm_content=design_a and utm_content=design_b. Document your names in a simple campaign list so future campaigns remain comparable. The freely chosen medium value qr describes your use here; it does not guarantee assignment to a particular analytics channel group.

How are UTM campaigns measured?

A UTM link does not count clicks or visitors itself. The destination website needs suitable analytics that process campaign parameters. In Google Analytics 4, recorded traffic can be explored by source, medium and campaign. Purchases or enquiries are comparable only if the corresponding events are configured. Google explains processing in its documentation on campaigns and traffic sources.

Scanning a code does not automatically produce a measured visit: the destination must open and measurement must run there. Consent settings, browser features, redirects and analytics configuration affect which data arrives. The generator checks neither destination availability nor analytics configuration.

What should you consider with QR codes?

The QR code contains exactly the generated campaign link. It is static: MSD-Finder provides neither a redirect nor a counter. The generator sets no expiry; usability depends on the stored destination remaining reachable. Once printed, the URL encoded in the code cannot be changed.

Use PNG for digital templates and SVG for scalable print layouts. Keep the white border, avoid overlaying logos and test the final size with a smartphone. Long URLs create denser codes. Shorter addresses and campaign names make codes easier to use in small print areas.

Avoid common UTM mistakes

Do not tag internal navigation with campaign UTMs: use them for external campaign traffic. Extra campaign values within your website can affect event attribution. Dedicated analytics events are usually more suitable for internal buttons. This follows from how GA4 processes new campaign values.

Avoid unplanned double tagging in Google Ads: if you use auto-tagging, coordinate manual UTM parameters with your account linking and reporting. Value priority depends on your setup. See Google’s explanation of manual tagging and auto-tagging.

Do not enter confidential information: campaign parameters are part of a visible, shareable URL. Avoid email addresses, customer names, passwords and personal identifiers. For redirects, also check whether required parameters reach the destination.

Do UTM links improve SEO or AI search visibility?

This tool labels campaigns. It does not optimise destination content or technical quality, and promises no better rankings or mentions in AI answers. To review page structure, also use the SEO Snippet & Content Checker; to review text structure, use the GEO / AI Content Checker.

Privacy when creating your links

The generator processes your inputs entirely in your browser, without storing or transmitting them. QR codes are also generated locally. Opening the link later sends the full URL, including campaign parameters, to the destination website. Data processing there depends on the operator and its analytics configuration.
